Yesterday we took the ferry across to Robben Island. It's about a half an hour ride and approx 11km from Cape Town (at the closest point). Robben Island is where political troublemakers, social outcasts and the unwanted of society used to be sent. The prison is the main attraction, but there are other very cool parts of the island. There is a leper graveyard there, and old buildings that used to be hospitals for the mentally unstable or terminally ill.
